Eureka it works!* 0

I got my megadrum working! I soldered a 47K resistor between pin 1 and 26 of the pic mc and reloaded the firmware with MIDI OX and voila it works :D will attach all the inputs tomorrow and then i can focus on the drums :)

Figuring out some problems 0

Michiel and I both ran into the same problem. Our lcd seems to work since it shows a update message when fired on while holding the left button but other then that it doesnt do anything. We are currently looking into this problem and hopefully can solve it soon.

Megadrum is almost finished 0

I have been busy again. I connected the LCD screen, On/OFF button and the led light. The ON/OFF button and led are not really necessary but I just liked the idea of having them since they look nice on the case :P . I also prepared the cable to connect all the inputs already I just have to solder it in place (16×2 cables crammed in a little box oef). The cable I used to connect the LCD and will use for the inputs are simple IDE cables I had laying around cheap and effective just like the cables for the power switch and led which also come from a computer. One minor problem though the LCD screen is not showing any text but neither does Michiels lcd so we think we need to adjust the contrast but to adjust that we need to connect the buttons and to connect the buttons we need a 5pin cable and that is the only part we miss :P So we will be getting a 5 pin cable this weekend and have the megadrum is probably fully functional this weekend then we will focus on making the drums :)

And it works again! 0

Casing almost finnished 0

I have been bussy this weekend with my megadrum casing. The result is oke but I wish I had ordered 2 casings so I could do it again and this time a bit neater ^^. Oh well now I can atleast help michiel with his case.  When we ordered the case we also made a little mis calculation which means we really have to cramp everything in as you can see and we have to let out 1 input. Only things that have to be done for the megadrum to work is connect the inputs, buttons, lcd screen and midi port to the pcb and then fit everything in the box :) For more pics see flickr stream.

First edrum finnished 0

Today we made 1 e drum at the cost of a few fingers, an eye and some brain cells. but luckly the weather was good and the beer was cold. We manged to finnish one e drum but testing it kinda failed because the megadrum is not fully functional yet.

New parts 0

I received my order from thomann.de including some cables, meshheads, sticks and a 10″ tomtom(on the picture you see a meshhead mounted already). Also received my piezo’s this week and ordered a box for the megadrum. Got enough parts to keep my self busy for a while. This weekend we will start making 2 e-drums using the 10″ tomtom.

Megadrums are almost finished 0

We are almost finished with our megadrums. We both finished the soldering on the pcb’s we now need to find a proper housing to fit all the PCB and the Jacks etc in.

Started soldering 0

It’s been a while since the last update. We where both kinda busy with school and we had to wait for parts to arrive. I received a package with my new solderstation and the missing parts today and started to solder the first parts. The IC feets are soldered on their place now I hope to finnish it tommorow.
